 Consulting

All the consulting jobs we do for you come with geek speak translations. Most people hate geek speak, though it is a necessary evil in determining functionality and compatibility. At JBUR-Solutions we go out of our way to help you understand which parts of it are important and why.

 Product Search

Whether you are a business considering purchasing an entirely new system or an individual contemplating upgrading your mouse, JBUR-Solutions is here for you. We leave no stone unturned when it comes to research and if the requirements change midway, we revisit options that have already been discounted just in case they might now fit.

If during our research there is any question about compatibility with existing or proposed products, we figure out a way to prototype the configuration or find someone that already has and give you the results in both geek and normal human being terms. We do not accept "It should work" as an answer. If the answer is not at least, "It worked when we tested it", we consider the answer to be either no, or not at all.

When seeking products to fit your application, we try to give you at least three options that meet your criteria. We will explain the pros and cons of each option and why we believe they are the best options suited for you. If a product is available locally we make sure it is one of the proposed options even if the cost is considerably more.

 Price Comparison

This is the service offered by JBUR-Solutions that often saves our customers hundreds if not thousands of dollars a year. How do we do it? Simply put, we know what is and what isn't required for our customers specific needs. We also calculate and compare the cost of operation and training for the life of the products.

 Data Transfer

Whether you purchase a new computer or reinstall the operating system on your old one, chances are you will need to transfer data from the old to the new. Most of the process is straight forward, but backing up data specific to a program such as an email client or ensuring you are not backing up the very problem(s) you are trying to fix can be tricky. For those circumstances we can walk you through the procedures step by step over the phone, or do the work for you either in shop or onsite.

 Network- Support · Design · Implementation

JBUR-Solutions does not run cabling, we do however troubleshoot and locate network and phone cables. We can also troubleshoot using equipment and software and isolate the problems that currently or could potentially impair your network.

JBUR-Solutions can not turn back time and undo choices that were made in the purchase of network equipment requiring constant power cycling, or that have become a severe bottleneck; we can, however, help you choose replacement equipment that addresses these issues. If it is a new system, we will help you do it right the first time and even help you decide where to put the equipment. In addition, we will document the connections, equipment and cable locations, and simple troubleshooting steps.

 Recovery from Infections (Virus, Malware, Trojans etc.)

The first step will be to backup your critical data using an external system to avoid further data corruption. If the data is worth the cost of forensic data recovery should it be lost, a clone of the infected hard drive will be made and all recovery attempts will be made with the clone.

In almost all cases the next step will be to wipe the hard drive clean and reinstall the operating system, extra software, your data, and applicable updates. Those rare cases where the operating system is not reinstalled have usually been either because the customer turned off his/her computer shortly after it was infected and did not turn it back on, or because the customer lost the software installation disks and or license key code. In the latter instance, the work preformed is not guaranteed and the cost of labor is usually four times that of reinstalling the operating system. JBUR-Solutions' current record for amount of infections removed on a system that was successfully recovered is over 8,000 infections.

 Custom Computer Building and Modifications

JBUR-Solutions does build custom computers, but it should be noted that we cannot currently come close to the price of a name brand complete system from a local retailer. The need for a custom computer of late has been to meet very strict hardware requirements, or the purchaser has been driven to buy something locally assembled. If you are seeking to have a custom computer built, expect to pay at least $1000.00 for the system unit alone.

If you just want to purchase a computer that is locally supported, have JBUR-Solutions do some consulting for you to find the best system for your budget, and if it needs servicing over time, let JBUR-Solutions deal with the vendor's support. You will be money ahead and still have a great system.

If you have specific hardware requirements, before ordering a custom computer, have JBUR-Solutions do some consulting for you to determine if a canned system from a major manufacturer can be upgraded to meet your needs as soon as it arrives.

Case mods (case modifications) is a service that JBUR-Solutions is considering offering. We currently do simple mods like cut out holes for a fan and paint to match CD/DVD drives, but we are willing to go further and create some works of art.

 System Upgrades

By default, JBUR-Solutions will do a cost/value analysis for any upgrade/repair and find the most cost effective solution(s) even if it means less profit for JBUR-Solutions.

Once the best solution is determined, JBUR-Solutions will either retail the item(s) required for upgrade or walk the customer through the vendor’s ordering process. Best value for the customer will rule the choice of method followed.

 Training and Hands on Instruction

Many of our customers wish to be able to undo the results of common mishaps and to be more self-sufficient in computer support. For those individuals we are happy to offer hands on training. At JBUR-Solutions we don't have any secret ways of fixings things, or proprietary tricks. If you want to know how we do it, just ask.

 Documentation

Documentation is the one thing no one cares about until either something breaks or something needs to be upgraded. JBUR-Solutions will document your instructions and procedures related to your computer/network systems in a simple to use format that leaves nothing if not little to be questioned.

If you need a diagram of your network setup, we can do that too.

 Retail

JBUR-Solutions does keep common items like memory and hard drives in stock, but essentially we are a service business and not a hardware retailer. For big ticket items or items with onsite support, we guide the customer through the vendor’s ordering process. For all other items we give the customer the option either to pay our consulting fee or our retail markup price.

JBUR-Solutions currently has affiliations with several vendors which allows us to earn commissions on many of the products we sell or recommend, in turn reducing the cost for our customers.
